8 guests for over night trips
Enjoy a day aboard, go paddle across a fjord, try wing or kite foiling, or go for a snow hike. What ever your Arctic adventure might be, we offer a variety of activities on the water and in the mountains. These day trips are for adventurers who crave wild terrain, big days, and the thrill of exploring one of the most remote and dramatic regions of the Arctic.
What to expect: a calm morning sail out to an anchorage for lunch and afternoon activities, a sail back to port under the northern lights and a warm dinner.
SKI
8 guests
Backcountry ski from fjord to fjord in Iceland's greatest wilderness, the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. Cut off from roads, this raw and untamed landscape can only be reached by sea. Each night, regroup aboard our cozy expedition ship for warm meals prepared by the crew, anchored in a sheltered bay at the foot of the ski mountains.
What to expect: tracing wild coastlines under the northern lights, crossing paths with Arctic foxes and seals–all while living aboard a floating wooden ski chalet that moves anchorage daily, giving you a brand-new slope to ski every day of your trip.
SURF
8 guests
Set sail in search of a surf adventure like no other and experience Arctic waves all to yourself. This trip is designed for surfers craving a wild new experience, pristine waves, and the thrill of exploring one of the most remote and dramatic regions of the Arctic — with the sea as your doorstep and Lola as your floating home.
What to expect: chasing waves in different fjords by sail, anchoring in sheltered bays, and reaching surf points by the ship’s motorized annex. After you’ve surfed your brains out in the icy water, you'll be picked up and taken back to the warm, heated ship for a hot meal — ready to do it all again the next day on a new wave.
Lola of Skagen
An 18-meter wooden vessel that serves as a warm winter refuge surrounded by water. With heating in every cabin, she offers comfort even in the wildest weather. Built in Denmark in 1919, she spent 55 years as a fishing boat before being converted to a passenger charter vessel in 1975. Ever since, she has been sailing, carrying stories of both work and adventure.
Sturdy and spacious, Lola is built for the sea and outfitted for exploration. She is a joy to sail in the traditional way—every hand is needed on deck, as there isn’t a single winch onboard. Step aboard, and you’re immediately transported to another era. The ship is extremely well kept, and the wood gives it a naturally warm feel.
Equipped with comfort, Lola features a cozy saloon with a large dining table that fits 12 people. Each bed has its own night light and curtain for privacy. There is a WC with a running hot water shower, plus a heater in each cabin. Additionally, there is plenty of storage on deck for all your adventure gear.
Your Hosts
Jay & Natasha
The proud guardians of Lola spent a decade sailing around the world before settling in Brittany, France—the mecca of offshore professional sailboat racing. When time allows, they love to step away from their main work to share their home at sea with others. Iceland holds a special place in their story; they spent nine months aboard their previous vessel there, and it was in Ísafjörður that their fourth and youngest child was born. Their deep affection for this country continues to draw them back.
Haukur
A native of the Westfjords, Haukur has over 20 years of experience organizing and leading adventure trips in Iceland. Few have skied the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve as often as he has, and he knows its terrain, history, and culture like the back of his hand. An anthropologist and photographer, Haukur also provides production services to film crews and occasionally guides. He lives in Ísafjörður with his wife and two sons.
Tyler
Tyler has called the Westfjords home since 2020 after spending eight months biking across the United States to reconnect with what’s important to him. He spends his summers operating unique bike experiences in the Westfjords and is no stranger to a good time. He also manages his year-round bike and ski shop, the Fjord Hub, in downtown Ísafjörður.
